Am I a Good Candidate for Body Sculpting?

Am I a Good Candidate for Body Sculpting?

No matter how well you adhere to a diet and exercise routine, you might still have lingering pockets of fatty tissue that don’t respond to your efforts.

For many residents of Las Vegas, Nevada, the solution lies in body sculpting from the team at Carl N. Williams, Jr. M.D. Hand and Plastic Surgery. We offer both surgical and nonsurgical options, and we start with a thorough consultation to ensure you’re a good candidate for the body sculpting procedure you choose.

Here’s why diet and exercise don’t eliminate all fat deposits

When you eat and drink, your body converts that fuel into energy, saving any excess in the form of fat. Your body has a layer of fat cells that lies just beneath the surface of your skin. Each of the cells has the ability to expand and contract to store more or less fat.

That’s why gaining weight results in changes in the shape of your body. Bulges, areas of flabby skin, and thickening of your thighs, upper arms, or waist are all the result of expanding fat cells.

When you expend more energy than you take in, your system taps into those fat stores. This causes the fat cells to shrink, which again alters the shape of your body. The problem arises in the fact that you cannot control which fat stores are depleted by your efforts.

Most people notice weight loss or gain in specific areas. Some complain of chubby cheeks, while others notice additional volume around their midsection. You might carry extra weight on your hips, thighs, or buttocks.

“Spot training,” or targeting certain areas with workouts and weight training, doesn’t cause fatty deposits in those areas to reduce more rapidly. If you’re like most people, you have specific problem areas that remain even after you’ve reached your ideal weight.

Body sculpting offers the chance to eliminate fatty deposits

When it comes to altering the shape of your body, noninvasive body sculpting is a great option. You can remove fat cells through liposuction, but not without creating incisions within your skin and inserting medical devices into your body. SculpSure® uses a laser to melt unwanted fat cells. Kybella® is an injection that reduces the volume of fullness beneath your chin, often called a “double chin.”

Procedures like a tummy tuck or arm lift are a good approach if you need to remove a substantial volume of fat and skin, but any surgical procedure comes with a risk of infection and a recovery process.

Am I a good candidate for body sculpting treatments?

If you’re serious about blasting away lingering fatty deposits and enhancing your physique, one of the aesthetic treatments for body sculpting at Carl N. Williams, Jr. M.D. Hand and Plastic Surgery may be right for you.

It’s important that you’ve reached and are able to maintain a healthy body weight prior to moving forward with these treatments. That’s because body sculpting doesn’t remove all fat cells from the area of focus. The remaining cells can still expand and contract if you gain or lose weight.

Putting on weight after treatment can mar your results, so be sure you reach your weight loss goals prior to investing in body sculpting treatment.

Good candidates also have realistic expectations. We talk with you about your goals and which treatment options would best address your concerns.

If you’re curious about what these treatments can do to bring you closer to your aesthetic goals, reach out to Carl N. Williams, Jr. M.D. Hand and Plastic Surgery online or by phone to schedule a time to come in and learn more. There’s never a better time than now to get started with treatments that can renew your body and your confidence.
