BOTOX/DYSPORT/XEOMIN
Some of the first signs of aging that you will notice are the appearance of wrinkles on your forehead or around your eyes. Although these wrinkles may not yet be deep within the skin, they are apparent each time you make a facial expression.
Treatment for facial aging varies. While some patients are interested in surgery, others prefer minimally invasive procedures. The aging features that you exhibit may not be significant enough to warrant surgery, providing the option to consider other treatments.
A popular procedure for facial aging is injectable treatment, particularly with the use of neurotoxins like Botox, Dysport and Xeomin. Each treatment effectively reduces wrinkles along the face and helping you look younger.*
HOW DO NEUROTOXINS WORK?
Whether you receive treatment with Botox, Dysport or Xeomin, they are composed of the same active ingredient: botulinum toxin type A. In controlled amounts, the botulinum toxin prevents neurotransmitters from creating movement within the muscles.
When you smile, frown, raise your eyebrows or squint, you are using particular muscles in your face. As you continue to make various facial expressions, your muscles will begin to establish wrinkles with each contraction, which can contribute to you looking older.
Neurotoxins inhibit your muscles so that they are unable to contract as intensely. As a result, facial lines are reduced, and your skin appears smoother.*
IS AN INJECTABLE TREATMENT RIGHT FOR YOU?
Treatment with neurotoxins is an ideal solution if you display a mild to moderate degree of facial aging. You may also choose to receive injectable treatments if you do not want to undergo surgery.
During a consultation with Dr. Williams and his nurse, Nicole, you can consider your treatment options and discuss the level of invasive surgery you prefer. Based on your expectations, Nicole can recommend the appropriate course of action, and by evaluating your skin quality, he can determine whether you would benefit from Botox, Dysport or Xeomin.
HOW ARE INJECTIONS ADMINISTERED?
The number of units required for your skin will depend on the severity of your facial aging as well as the location of your wrinkles. Nicole will mark the treatment area and administer injections directly into the muscle. In total, one treatment session should take no longer than 30 minutes, and other than slight swelling and redness around the injection site, you should not experience any downtime.
You will notice the beginning stages of your results within a few days after treatment; however, most treatment areas will not display full results for at least a couple weeks.* Although injectable treatment is proven to be long-lasting, it is not a permanent treatment option and will require touch-up injections to maintain your results. Many patients, however, appreciate the temporary nature of injectable treatment, as it allows them to control the timing of their facial rejuvenation.
