BREAST LIFT
An area of cosmetic concern for many women is the appearance of their breasts, which over time can look disproportionate to the rest of the body. Although breast enhancement involves several surgical techniques to improve the body’s natural contours and appearance, only a select few procedures may be appropriate for your individual concerns.
It’s common to be unsure about the right form of breast enhancement for you. To remedy any confusion, Dr. Williams will consult with you about the particular issues you have with your breasts. Depending on your cosmetic goals and body shape, he can recommend the most beneficial procedure.
One procedure that you may consider is a breast lift, which works to reposition the breasts and create a younger-looking aesthetic; however, it’s essential that you think about whether the procedural details of the surgery will provide the results you’re looking for. Together, you and Dr. Williams can make that determination.
WHEN SHOULD YOU RECEIVE A BREAST LIFT?
Dr. Williams performs breast lift surgery when excess skin surrounding the chest wall causes the breasts to hang lower than what you consider normal or natural. Whether due to natural aging, weight loss or pregnancy, the breasts can take on a different appearance that you find unappealing. Your areola may also become enlarged due to loose skin. Breast lift surgery reshapes the breast tissue to create an improved contour and better nipple placement.*
A breast lift targets poor skin elasticity, but does not increase the size or fullness of the breasts. Although your breasts will appear shapely and perky after breast lift surgery, your cup size will remain the same. If you are interested in enhancing or reducing your breast size, you can talk to Dr. Williams about including a breast augmentation or reduction in addition to a breast lift.
If you are self-conscious about the position of your breasts and would like to naturally rejuvenate your body, then you might consider breast lift as a treatment option. Dr. Williams performs breast lift surgery that is customized for each patient and includes as little downtime as possible.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING TREATMENT?
Breast lift starts with a thorough examination of the breast tissue, when Dr. Williams will classify whether you require a lift or reduction. Both procedures involve the excision of surrounding structures; however, one removes only excess skin while the other eliminates glandular tissue to reduce the size of the breast.
Evaluating the positioning of the breasts and the reasons why they have acquired their current placement will help Dr. Williams design the best treatment plan for your needs. During surgery, Dr. Williams will make an incision around the areola and along the breast, giving him access to the underlying breast tissue. He will remove excess skin and rework the contour of the breast to improve its fullness and firmness. If necessary, Dr. Williams will reposition the nipple and reduce its size as well.
Changes to your breasts are immediately apparent and will continue to amend as you recover. Dr. Williams will provide you with detailed post-operative instructions for the healing process and will also schedule follow-up appointments to check on the progress of your results.
